Kids Cavity Fillings in Springfield, MO

A cavity isn’t the end of the world. Most kids handle a filling great when it’s done the right way. We’ve been refining “the right way” since 2007.

Tooth-colored resin

We use composite resin fillings. They bond directly to the tooth, look natural, and hold up well in primary and adult teeth in most situations. No silver showing when your kid laughs.

How we approach the appointment

Tell, Show, Do. We explain what we’re doing in kid words. We don’t use words like “needle,” “shot,” or “drill” with kids. We use language that doesn’t scare anyone, and we let your child see and feel everything before it happens.

Behavior management first

Most kids don’t need sedation for a filling. Calm voice, slow pace, breaks when they’re needed, the right music in the room, a parent in the chair if it helps. That’s the default at Smile Zone.

AAPD’s behavior guidance has been clear for years: behavior management is the first line of approach. Sedation is for when it’s actually going to help.

When we add help

  • Nitrous oxide for kids who are anxious but cooperative
  • Outpatient general anesthesia for kids with a lot to do at once, very young patients, or kids whose situation calls for it
  • Both decisions get made with you, never for you

Same-day fillings

If we find a small cavity at a cleaning visit and your schedule allows, we’d rather take care of it that day than make you come back. Saves you a trip and saves your kid a second appointment buildup.
