LSTR Pediatric Dental Treatment in Springfield, MO

LSTR (Lesion Sterilization and Tissue Repair) uses a triple antibiotic mix to fight infection inside a baby tooth without doing a full pulp procedure. It’s a relatively newer approach in the U.S., and it’s worth knowing about if your child needs work on a primary tooth.

What LSTR does

We place a specific antibiotic combination inside the tooth. The antibiotics clear the bacteria that caused the infection. The body’s natural healing handles the rest. The tooth stays in place, doing its job, until it’s ready to fall out naturally.

When it's a good option

  • Primary teeth with deep decay where pulpectomy would otherwise be the next step
  • Kids whose situation makes a longer procedure tough (younger patients, special needs, anxiety)
  • Cases where parents want the most conservative option that still works

How it pairs with a crown

The tooth still needs protection on top. Most LSTR teeth get a stainless steel or zirconia crown afterward. We do that in the same appointment when we can.

Limits to know

LSTR isn’t right for every tooth. Some situations still call for traditional pulp therapy or extraction. Dr. Heather will give you a straight answer about whether it fits your child’s tooth. We don’t sell something that’s not the right call.
